5 Common Coffee-Making Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Even good coffee can disappoint if it’s poorly prepared. The first mistake: incorrect dosing. A general rule is 1 g of coffee for 15 g of water. Too much or too little throws off the flavor balance.

The grind size is also critical. Coarse for cold brew, fine for espresso. Water should never boil—90–96°C is ideal. Finally, store your beans away from air and light to preserve their aroma.

Each brewing method has its ideal coffee: for example, Mokarico Columbia is perfect for milk-based drinks, and Zicaffè Linea Espresso is crafted for a pure Sicilian-style espresso. With a few simple tweaks, you’ll achieve barista-level results.
